If you own a .com.co domain (yourdomain.com.co) and if you have not benefited from the advantage of registering the matching .co domain (yourdomain.co), then… hurry up! Today is the last day you will have the priority to register it. You should have received a code sent to your administrative contact, that will enable you to register the new .co domain with any available registrar.
The Grandfathering process of .co domain registration began on March 1st, 2010 and ran throughout the whole month of March. From April 1st, all domains that were not registered during this period will not be longer reserved for current owners of .com.co domains and will be available to the general public from July 20, 2010.
Once this stage of the process is finished, a new stage will began on April 1st, during which all registered trademarks in Colombia can then register domains. From April 26th, this will be possible for trademarks registered worldwide.

Last week, eNom (one of the biggest domain registrars in the world) announced that it will be one of the exclusive registrars to sell .co domains. Enom feels very optimistic about the .co domain, and is offering its platform as a selling point for .co domain names.
eNom also mentioned that it is planning to support all the phases of the .co TLD relaunch (see Key Dates), which involve different phases in the process to start selling .co domains. Therefore you will be able to buy .co domain names directly with them.
“eNom is honored to be one of the ten Registrars selected to sell the .CO domain extension” said Chris Sheridan, VP of platform at eNom.
General .CO domain availability will start on July 2010, but you could secure your .co domain in advance. Manager of the .CO TLD, .CO Internet S.A.S., launched The .CO Founders Program earlier this week to give selected candidates the opportunity to register .co domains before they become available to the masses.
This is a tremendous opportunity, not only because you could choose your .co domain before most other people, thus securing an easy and memorable name, but also because you would benefit from .CO Internet marketing efforts, as your domain would be one of the first .CO domains operating globally.

This week, with the grandfathering process Network Solutions also started selling third level domains under the dot co TLD. This is a big step in the establishment of the .co domain era, Network Solutions is one of the biggest domain registrars and therefore is one of the most renowned players in the domain registration business. Now, by allowing the registration of .co domains (now only third level domains) they are reassuring that the .co domain is here to stay and now at a global level.
Once the process is completed you will be able to register the dot co domain here too.

.CO domains are becoming the new internet trend. The month of March arrived, owners of third level .CO domains have started to benefit from the priority to register the equivalent top level .CO domains.
In addition, over the next months, a number of international domain registrars and resellers will be offering .CO domains worldwide. This is the case of OpenSRS, the wholesale reseller services group of Tucows, who from April 1st will be embracing what they have called the .CO era.
After a smooth transition period from a previous administration, in which the use of .CO domains was exclusive of Colombian-based organizations, .CO Internet is now in charge of an international operation. As a result, .CO domains will be available worldwide in June 2010.

Today, March 1st 2010, the Grandfathering process for .CO Top Level Domains has started. If you have a second level .CO domain (yourdomain.com.co) that was registered on or before July 30th 2008, you can now register its identical equivalent in top level .CO domain (yourdomain.co).
This priority is valid throughout the month of March 2010.
If your domain is eligible, you will be sent a code before March 3rd. You will then be able use this code to register your .CO domain with authorized .CO domain registrars. Learn about .CO domain registration.
