According to www.news.com.co This year the Colombian government (responsible for the .co TLD) decided to take advantage of the similarity of the .co TLD with .com and its ability to denote companies, and appointed a company to administer and promote the .co TLD in a more commercial way.

This change will bring some relief to the overcrowded .com TLD, and opportunities for companies to register their .co domains under the new .co TLD.

We will be publishing more news about this soon.
